The Economics on Land Degradation Initiative held its second joint meeting in Brussels, Belgium, hosted by the European Commission – DG Environment.
The meeting was attended by experts from varied field fields of economics, water, dry-lands, biodiversity and ecology with extensive experience in land degradation issues. The main objective of the meeting was to agree on the ELD methodology and data base. Four working groups were agreed upon, namely; Working Group on Data and Methodology, Working Group on Policy options and Pathways, Working Group on Economic Evaluation of options and Working Group on Case studies. Working processes for these working groups were also established and brought forward. The working groups are still open for participation and contribution by interested parties.
